Civil Engineering is the oldest branch of engineering and comprises the design and construction of roads, airports, tunnels, bridges, water supply and sewage systems, dams, harbours, railroad systems, docks, power supply systems, buildings and even nuclear power plants etc. The industries that generally apply infrastructure (bridges, highways, rail and so on), energy, water and public health, environmental and pollution, Surveying (Geological Survey, Remote Sensing and GIS), coastal and marine, sewerage systems, disaster mitigation and management etc. The civil engineering professionals can find employment in both public (CPWD, NHAI, BRO, MES, Railway, Minister of water resource, BIS, DRDO, CPCB etc.) and Public Sector Undertaking (GAIL, HAL, NTPC, NPCIL etc.) Students can join the government jobs and PSUs through GATE (Graduate aptitude technical exam) exam and UPSC (ESE) exams. Students at the University have an opportunity and access to personalized counselling sessions with expert counsellors at the University's Career Development Center (CDC). The Career Development Center (CDC) conducts an orientation on the counselling sessions for the first year University students. After the orientation, the students have an individual counselling session with the core team of counsellors at the Center. These sessions are informative as well as serve as a basic steering mechanism for students to become aware of and get a sense of the future course of action.
